132’ x 60’ Multi-Activity
Structure
The Multi-Activity Structure is designed to benefit a large number of partnering organizations community-wide by providing them with a place to bring their members to participate in exciting and unique activities at least 4 times a year.
Activities that would take place in the Structure’s three sections:
• The right side has a multi-purpose area with a sports and activity cage above.
• The middle front is for the six performing arts stages.
• The left side and middle back area is for physical training, experiential learning, and problem solving activities.
• During the large weekend competitions, with the supporting live entertainment, participants and spectators will be on the adjacent basketball court. These events provide a healthy alternative for youth on weekends, and promote a unifying environment.
Partnering Urban and Suburban Youth Groups: Urban and suburban groups team up to face challenges that require interaction, discussions, and teamwork.
Performing Arts: Students and adults from satellite performing arts programs have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in front of their peers at weekend events. This opportunity to play at a fun event increases their motivation to practice. More and more satellite performing arts programs will continue to be created because students have a fun and exciting place to play even if they only have learned to play one song. Most live performances take place during the large weekend competitions.
The Main Goal of the Multi-Activity Structure: Events that take place in the Multi-Activity Structure are fun and exciting, but they have a purpose: to teach Biblical principles. To continue this learning process between events, a computer-based Student-Mentor Discussion System monitors and facilitates the ongoing discussions through which mentors teach youth Biblical principles.
Participant Number Estimates:
• Participants from partnering satellite programs come once every 8 to 12 weeks
• 1,368 participants per week. 10,944 participants per year.
Choreographed activities run for a set number of minutes. As one organization moves on to another activity, the next group begins their training session.
Recruit volunteers for the Salvation Army: Short, regularly-produced video highlights and interviews of volunteers can be played on the large video screens during events. This will help establish and maintain a “community” atmosphere, and increase the interest of participants to become volunteers for the Salvation Army.
Televised Events – The Human Race…: Winning teams earn the opportunity to compete in finals at the Kroc Center which will be filmed and produced into a televised show called “The Human Race…”. The TV show partners small teams of urban and suburban youth to work together to overcome unique experiential learning, mental and physical challenges. The televised competitions would bring more participants into the Kroc Center and motivate students enrolled in partnering satellite programs to engage in competitions held at their satellite facility, so that they might gain a spot on the televised competition.
“The Human Race…” also serves as an infomercial for partnering programs, such as MAM, UYI, the Stax Music Academy, and others.
