Redefining the "Community Center"

The problems facing youth are numerous and complex, and often cannot be resolved by the traditional Community Center. New strategies are needed to compete with today’s negative influences and capture the interest of youth.

Most Community Centers and gymnasiums are built with basically the same design that was used 50 years ago.

The Have A Standard Foundation’s unique design for a "Multi-Activity Structure" to be included in Community Centers makes possible the following opportunities:

Interactive activities with "adventure themes":

• "Real-life videogame" challenges.
• Continually changing "adventure scenarios" allow students and mentors to do a different "mission" each time they return to the Community Center.
• Youth groups of different cultures work together in problem-solving activities, as opposed to just playing sports with or against each other.

"Multiple Stage Concept": Strengthens neighborhood “Performing Artists in Training” programs by providing a place for 216 students to play live music each week during professionally-run events.
